Could You Have Psychic Power?

By Mary Argant

I once knew a girl in school who could sometimes and quite accurately tell us things like whether a teacher would be absent that day or her own marks in a certain paper before the results. Though we held her in awe but never really thought much about her abilities except concluding the phenomenon as a exceptionally good gut feeling. Well, now when I come to think of it, my childhood friend was a psychic having a well developed psychic power of precognition.

Psychic power refers to the ability of perceiving information from one's surroundings which are otherwise hidden from the five sensory organs. Thus, a person can be termed a psychic if he/she has the special ability to see, hear, feel or know certain things which other people cannot. Commonly known as extra sensory perception, psychic powers are believed to be born with or developed after a tragic near death experience or a major event in a person's life which might have turned him towards a spiritual lane. Whatever might be its origin, it has a profound impact on the person's life being perceived as either a special gift or a curse.

Various different types of psychic powers exists in the world, the most common being the power to foresee future events, power to read another person's thoughts or the ability to see things which are otherwise hidden or occurring far away. Thus, precognition, telepathy and clairvoyance are the three most common psychic powers respectively.

Talking about telepathy, this sixth sense helps the psychic to read another person's thoughts. Psychics who have very well developed telepathic abilities can also inject their own thoughts into the thought stream of others.

Clairvoyance comes from the word 'Clear Viewing', hence it is the psychic power by which the psychic can see persons or things which are hidden or are thousands of miles away. Also known as 'Remote Viewing' this power helps in only 'seeing' while that of the psychic powers of clairaudience and clairsentience are powers to 'hear' or 'know' under the same conditions.

Precognition on the other hand refers to the psychic power to foresee future events and predicting the same. Since human beings have an innate desire to know about his/her future, this psychic power is the most popular and psychics possessing this are in great demand.

Other rare but important types of psychic powers include psychokinesis, the power to move matter with the power of thought; levitation or the ability to get your body to ascend from the ground; aura reading, the power to perceive the energy fields emitting from another person; astral projection, involving leaving your own body and traveling to another place in spirit and lastly channeling, or the power to act as a medium to any outside intelligence or spirits.

Lastly, in the aftermath of this discussion it must be concluded that whatever psychic power one possesses should always be though of as a special gift and developed and improved upon responsibly to help fellow human beings.
